Preparing your Property |
|
Practical matters
If you make sure your property is clean, comfortable and
functional it will attract more potential tenants and
be more likely to command a reasonable rental figure.
Additionally, tenants who are happy with the condition
of their home will, naturally, look after it properly
and be more likely to stay long term, something most landlords
prefer.
Whether you are planning to buy rental property, letting
out your own home, or assessing property you already own,
the following tips can make a difference:
• |
Fit hardwearing wooden or vinyl
floors to high-traffic and wet areas such as halls,
kitchens and bathrooms |
• |
Fix any niggling problems such
as sticking doors, loose fence panels and broken
handles and cracked window panes |
| • |
Remove any item that is old,
dated or unreliable |
• |
Ensure white goods such as
fridges, freezers, cookers and washing machines
work properly and are spotlessly clean |
| • |
Instruction books for all appliances

Furnished or unfurnished?
The majority of tenants require unfurnished homes. However
if your circumstances are such that you need to leave
your furniture in the property, we will accommodate this
and find you a suitable tenant.
There is demand for furnished “executive apartments” near
city centres and business districts but here the furnishings
have to be “executive” in style to attract business people.
Professional storage of your furniture and personal items
is not as complicated or expensive as it might sound.
We can arrange this seamlessly with a number of professional
local companies. |
