You should decide
how long you are likely to want to let out your property, as
it is only fair to be open with potential tenants so they can
plan their lives.
The usual minimum term under an Assured Shorthold Tenancy is
6 months. After that time has elapsed you can continue to let
the property on a periodic basis to the same tenant. In that
case there is no need to draw up any additional paperwork or
agreements.
Whether you are a long-term investor or you need to return to
your property within a particular time-scale, we will endeavour
to find a tenant to tie in with your particular requirements.
Even if you are not sure when you will return you can take comfort
from the fact that you need give only two months notice to the
tenant to regain your property.
A tenant who is uncertain of how long they will be allowed stay
in your property will be unsettled. Be as clear as you can at
the outset and both parties will then avoid unpleasant surprises.
